In caricaturing sitter's face, artists exaggerate some salient attributes in his face to settle those factors into shape. They intuitively select the attributes of the face for that purpose. One of the quantitative ways selecting the attributes as such is to detect extreme deviates of parameters of features from the averages of those in the universe of human faces as statistical norms. Moreover there would be some more attributes which could not be described quantitatively.
