 note = {ケーブルテレビが「多チャンネル」を特徴とするメディアであることは，よく知られているところであるが，その数多くのチャンネルにはどんなプログラムが流されるのであろうか。チャンネルに制限のあった空中波テレビの時代から，既に多チャンネルのケーブル時代を迎えているアメリカについて，そのプログラム・サービスの現状を調べる。日本においても，多チャンネルのケーブルテレビが誕生しつつあるが，ケーブル先進国のアメリカの状況は，多チャンネル利用の可能性を知る上で有益である。アメリカのケーブルには，再送信，自主制作，アクセス，衛星経由のサービスがあるが，ここではまず衛星経由サービスから取り上げる。と言ってもそれだけで90を越えるサービスがあり，いくつかのカテゴリーに分けて見ていくことになるが，本稿においては，まず「スーパーステーション」のカテゴリーについて取り上げる。その代表として，TBS SuperStationを主に取り上げ，その他には，WGN，WWORなどについて触れ，スーパーステーションの特徴について考察する。, It is well known that cable television is characteristic of multiple channels. What kind of programs do they carry to the subscribers? I research into the cable program services in U.S.A., where the age of the broadcasting TV has now shifted to the age of cable TV. Although cable televisions with multiple channels have come into reality in some areas in Japan as well, it can be a great help for cable TV's study to know about the cable TV in the United States. There are program services such as retransmission of broadcasting TV, local origination, access channel and service via communication satellites in American cable TV. The number of services via satellites amounts to more then 90. Here, I refer to the service via satellites, but I focus on a category of superstation, mainly on TBS superstation.
