The research is designed to investigate two issues. One is to see whether or not ICCE values(Individualism, Conformism, Conservatism, and Epicureanism), which I concluded to be Japanese young people's main values in a 1987 research project, have changed in the past five years. The other is to clarify what communication patterns help to form ICCE values and what communication patterns are in return formed by ICCE values. From speculation based on the research, this paper will conclude that ICCE values have become more widespread among young people and that good relationships with parents and conformist relationships with friends are typical patterns within their communications. I think ICCE values spread inevitably in an affluent society losing its goal.
