The general public receives various information and messages about crime and/or criminals which are frequently released by the mass media. The referents of these concepts are composed of various criminal acts such as murder, arson, violence, rape, corruption, swindling, drug, theft and so on. Under the influence of messages received from the mass media, \"crime\" and \"criminal\" are likely to be perceived and recognized through some abstract and standardized images derived from information which the mass media has communicated.
