Although experimental psychological studies of perception and estimation of short time duration have been done since the 19th century, they are not directly relevant to the study of time-consuming behavior. Both social-psychologists and sociologists have recently become interested in the problem of time, and the study of time-consumption is expected to develop in relation to the study of time-budgets.
