He is one of the most important figures in the Japanese modem architectural history. A part of the documents that Chuta Ito left were donated to the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) by his bereaved family. This paper gives an outline of the documents owned by AIJ. There are about 9000 documents in Chuta Ito archives of AIJ. It includes his diary, fieldnotes, photographs, maps rubbed copies, drawings and so forth. The central part of the archives is 74 volumes of field notes which Chuta Ito carried all his life. We can search for his thinking processes and interests at the time from descriptions in these notes. When he went abroad for his research, he wrote down many things, including the manners and customs and landscape sketches of the countries he was visiting. These documents will be very helpful in many fields not limited to architecture.}, pages = {A91--A98}, title = {[資料紹介] 日本建築学会所蔵の伊東忠太資料について}, volume = {36}, year = {2003} }
