Firstly, the poor living conditions in \"ragpicker slums\" were intensified by pre-modern feudal relationships, and social status in housing supply and waste services consolidated these relationships. There were also diverse periods of formation as \"ragpicker slums\" have pre-war and post-war origins. Moreover, the elimination of \"ragpicker slums\" was by no means linear, but proceeded in phases. From the first half of the 1950s, removal was implemented by the government, but there was no decrease in the number of such slums due to the ad hoc nature of the measures used for those evicted, such as accommodation in public shelters. However, removal from \"visible locations\" proceeded, and \"ragpicker slums\" became increasingly invisible in urban space.
