概要
内容記述タイプ Other
内容記述 The purpose of this study is to reveal what kind of effects Ego-Involvement (EI) has on the process of solving Contradictory Situations (CSs). Nishida (1990) showed 5 types of solution of CSs, so that this study was intended to find the relationship between these 5 types of solution and El. In this study, CSs and their solutions in the experiment of Nishida (1990) were used as materials. Three levels of EI were manipulated by the agents, which are Mr. A (unknown person: EI condition is weak), Mr. S (a friend of our subjects : EI condition is moderate), and I (subjects themselves: EI condition is strong), of 6 contradictory situations from Nishida (1990). Thirty-six university students, who were all members of the same department of the same university, were asked to participate in the experiment by Mr. S who was a collaborator in this experiment. In the experiment, they were asked to sort the sample solutions (the number of ranging from 8 to 10) in each contradictory situation in terms of 'appropriateness of the solution'. Before the experiment, two hypotheses were proposed. One was that EI has effect on the direction of the solution, such that the stronger El, the more some specific types of solution were identified as meaningful solutions. The other was that EI has effect on the activity of the cognitive process involved in solving, such that the stronger El, the more the cognitive process was active. Chi-squared tests and correspondence analysis suggested that the second hypothesis is correct. From these results, the process of solving CS under different EI conditions was discussed.
