| 内容記述 | Together with vast innovations in all fields related to "multimedia" in recent years, the term "multimedia" has been used in many and often contradictory ways. Though it is often insisted that multimedia have great impact upon our society, the actual image is still obscure and we do not yet have clear definition or general idea about multimedia in our society. In this article, firstly I argue that multimedia have three technological bases and three historical components. Secondly, while I point out the limits of the discourses which insist the potential of multimedia and clarify some mythological and ideological features under such discourses, I introduce current ideas which criticize optimistic perspectives on the future of such media. Through these examinations, I suggest a direction for the investigation of not only forthcoming multimedia, but also ideas concerning media technology. | |||||
