| 内容記述 | From April 28th to May 31th, 1931 (Showa 6) , the Ancient and Modern Painting Exhibition between Japan and China (Sino-Japanese Exhibition) was first held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Tokyo Imperial Household Museum at the same time. After that, the exhibits transferred, and displayed at the Osaka Prefectural Trade Center. Among all the exhibits, about 1400 paintings came from China, and about 250 paintings came from Japan. The Bureau of "Sino-Japanese Exhibition" was instituted at the library of the Tokyo Fine Arts School (current as Tokyo University of the Arts) , and it was supported by the "Special Accounting for the Japanese Cultural Policy toward China" from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, which purposed to publish the fine selections of the exhibition in order to a catalog of Chinese Famous Paintings in Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing Dynasty. This paper aims to illuminate the process of the "Sino-Japanese Exhibition," by which based on the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs Records" of Japan. It also purposes to elucidate the political background, reasons, and meanings of the exhibition. In addition, it elaborates on the acceptance of Chinese painting in the modern Japan, examines Japan's art policy toward China in the 1920s and 1930s from the perspective of "cultural diplomacy", and explores the relationship between the art exchange and international politics. | |||||
