 note = {This paper will briefly introduce a historical and stylistic classification of ancient seals, in order to explore the types of ancient seals included in the collections of collated and imitated seal impressions brought to Japan via Chinese junks in the Edo period (1600-1868). The present article will to explore the influence of each type of ancient seals on Japanese seal cutting on the basis of the understanding of ancient seals in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
