This paper studies the manner of experiencing from interviews with two elderly persons with impaired cognitive functioning. The interviews are with a man in his nineties with supposed attention disorder and a woman in her seventies with reported episodes of impaired memory. The interview with the elderly man with impaired cognitive functioning suggests 'structure bound experiencing' as observed by Eugene Gendlin, an American philosopher and psychotherapist. In such a mode of experiencing, he cannot come into touch with his feelings, and narrates the same contents despite changes in the situation. The elderly women was able to express her feelings, suggesting a milder degree of structure bound experiencing. It can be suggested that the more the degree of structure bound experiencing, the more the difficulty in recoving the implicit functions of experiencing.
