The group is highly appreciated as one of the most\ninfluential forces in the international art scenes. The art critics and art\nhistorians in the western world have had a great influence on estimating the\ncreativity of the artists and performers of Gutai. On the contrary to the\nenthusiastic praises from American and European art worlds, the Japanese art\ncritics kept silent to their own avant-garde art movement.　In this paper, referring to the hitherto known criticisms on Gutai art group　and their works, first of all, I will argue why the Japanese critics failed to\nproperly estimate Gutai art.
