After researching each era of art history since the Fujiwara period, Minamoto came to regard the motif of “Autumn Flowers” as a representational symbol of the Japanese aesthetic sense throughout art history. In order to elucidate Minamoto’s “aesthetics of autumn flowers”, this paper will attempt to clarify the reason why Minamoto regarded the Fujiwara period as the beginning of Japanese art. This will be done by analyzing “the artistic will” in order to see if there is any possible relation with Minamoto’s decision to regard the Fujiwara period as the departure point for Japanese art., 東アジアの言語と表象}, pages = {41--53}, title = {藤原時代と芸術的意欲をめぐって ―源豊宗の美術史観を踏まえて}, volume = {3}, year = {2014} }
