| 内容記述 | The Meiji period Western-style artist Aoki Shigeru （1882‒1911） passed away at the young age of 28 yet is highly acclaimed in the history of modern Japanese art because of the superb expressive style of his paintings. Aoki got high evaluation with A Gift of the Sea （1904）, nevertheless evaluation of the picture he painted in his later years is low. It is said that his style has changed since he painted Paradise under the Sea （1907）. Until now, it is not analyzed in detail about that. In this essay, by analyzing the color, motif, and influence of Western art, I consider the factors of his changed style. | |||||
