After Qin Shihuang unified the script, the position of the seal script gradually declined because of the scripts' evolution and the demand for practicability. But in the Tang and Qing dynasties, there were two large seal script renaissances, whose influence restored the importance of seal script. The Qing dynasty was another peak in the seal script renaissance after the Tang dynasty; it not only influenced the Qing dynasty's Chinese seal script, but also the seal script of Edo Japan. As for the research that has been done on my topic, so far there is just one person who has written about it, Iwatsubo Mitsuo. He mainly arranged and discussed the problems of seal script publications in the Edo period, and did not talk about the influence of Chinese seal script on Edo Japan. In this thesis, first I introduced the development of Chinese seal script and the examples of famous calligraphers' theories, then I introduced Kido Kann, the obscure calligrapher and his theory. So that we can see the influence and popularization of Chinese seal script in Edo Japan., 文部科学省グローバルCOEプログラム 関西大学文化交渉学教育研究拠点, 松浦章教授古稀記念号, [東アジアの歴史と動態]}, pages = {687--704}, title = {中国篆书书法对日本的影响与普及 : 以城户桓《书谭》为中心}, volume = {10}, year = {2017} }
