He translated a part of the four Gospels from the original Latin text into Chinese, and added notations. Around 1800, the Jesuit Louis Antoine de Poirot (1735-1813) translated the Old and New Testaments, and collected them in the text Guxin Shenging (古新聖経). He also used the Latin Vulgate Bible and translated into the vernacular Chinese.
