More specifically,with the prosperity of the writing style of Tang Dynasty in China,the mid-to-late Edo period witnessed a growing demand for Chinese calligraphy rubbings, One of the three celebrated calligrapher of Edo is Ichikawa Beian, who quoted plenty  Chinese calligraphy rubbings in his books. That is not to say that he collected all\n the rubbings himself but at least it proved that he had seen those rubbings.
