Kyeonghakwon was intended to be a place to give lectures on Confucianism and to facilitate reform of Korean public morals.\nAfter the Japanese colonial government was established, the educational functions that Sungkyunkwan had held befbre were nearly totally eliminated. Kyeong Hakwon was \nbased on Confucian thought. Its main purpose was to implement social education and \nperformances of religious rites at Confucian temples.
