| 内容記述 | In the age of cultural interaction between East and West and simultaneously occurring social change, Shingū Ryōtei(新宫凉庭), a well-known Confucian scholar with an in-depth knowledge of Western medicine, established the Kyoto Junsei Academy(京 都顺正书院).Endowed with deep concern and a sense of cultural mission, Shingū promoted education in the humanities that emphasized Confucianist studies and an understanding of Western medicines. With the Meiji restoration, however, the importance attached to Confucian education at the Kyoto Junsei Academy faded, and finally, the academy came to be recognized only as an institute for medical education by the public. This thesis holds the view that the history and transformation of Kyoto Junsei Academy is very important for Asian Confucian Studies. |
