Mearnsは、心理的接触に関する概念「Working at Relational Depth（以下、WRD）」を発展させてきた。本稿は彼の著書である「Working at Relational Depth in Counselling and Psychotherapy」の一章を紹介し、考察を加えるものである。WRDは、6つの必要十分条件が全て高水準に存在するときに生じるものであり、Thの態度だけでなく、Clの応答も重要な要素の一つだとされる。Thの透明性と自己一致は基本であり、Thとしての役割ではなくその人そのもので出会っていく必要がある。一方 Clは、Thの共感や肯定を受け入れ、Cl自身も Thに開かれていこうとする姿勢が求められる。Relational
