Psychological detachment from work is an important concept that refers to employees being apart from their jobs not only physically but also mentally. Th e purpose of this study is to construct the psychological detachment scale for Japanese employees and examines its reliability and validity. The results of the factor analysis showed simple structure. Using these results, the Psychological Detachment Scale was constructed with a high degree of internal consistency (Cronbach’sα=.93).
