Since seminars involve a variety of activities, it is difficult to find a cause–effect relationship between the styles of seminar and career development. However, it is evident that seminar experiences, where students together engage in self-directed learning, under a particular instructor in open-ended learning environments over two years may have a strong impact on their career development. The authors employed Trajectory Equifinality Modeling (TEM) based on the life story interviews of a graduate who became a dentist and worked at both her clinic and at an international NGO in Myanmar.
