In this article, the author makes an attempt to realize the 'commensurability' among different scopes and approaches in SLA research. He argues that four principles based on Saijo (2007, 2008), i.e., public/open nature, falsifiability, interest-correlativity, and structure-orientedness, are vital in devising a framework for achieving higher commensurability in research.
