Stranded Vietnamese in Japan and Their Return to China by Junk 唐船により中国に送還された日本漂着ベトナム人 松浦, 章 33656 Matsuura, Akira 70121895 清朝中国 ベトナム 日本 海難 唐船 In 1815, the 20th year of the Qing Dynasty’s Jiaqing era and the 12th year of the Bunka era in Japan, a group of Vietnamese castaways landed on Yakushima Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Not understanding Japanese, they were sent to Nagasaki, where a crewmember on a Chinese trading ship, who understood Vietnamese, was able to translate. With this, it was clear that the fi ve men were Vietnamese soldiers. After this discovery, the intention was to repatriate the fi ve men by sending them to Zhapu, China, on a Chinese trading vessel.
