郵送調査とインターネット調査 A Comparison of Regular Mail and Internet Survey Methods 林, 英夫 郵送調査 ディスクバイメール オンラインサーベイ インターネット調査 電子メール調査 ウェブサイト調査 ウェブサイトパネル調査 インセンティブ インターネット調査の得失 インターネット調査の代表性 mail survey disk by mail on line survey Internet survey E-mail surveys random website surveys panel website surveys incentives strengths and weaknesses of Internet surveys representativeness of Internet surveys 関西大学 Kansai University インターネットが本格的に脚光を浴びるようになった1994年ころから，この5年間に,その応用形態の一つであるインターネット調査の実用化を巡って急速に研究が進展してきた。インターネット調査の実情や将来性に関しての得失が論じられる場合，暗示的に，また，明示的に，その比較の対象として郵送調査が引き合いに出されることが多い。そこで，本稿は，郵送調査の方法論的研究の立場から，インターネット調査の識者によりこれまでに公表されてきた成果を集約して，インターネット調査の現状を概観しようとするものである。これまでにインターネット調査の研究が提起してきた諸問題の多くは，郵送調査が過去80年近くの研究史の中で直面してきた諸問題と共有するものも多く，この間に蓄積された郵送調査の方法論的研究の成果がインターネット調査の今後の研究に寄与するところが大きいであろう。また，逆に，インターネット調査の方法論的研究が郵送調査の研究の発展に刺激を与えてくれるであろう。 The Internet in Japan has increased explosively since 1994. Studies on Internet usage have also rapidly developed in order to make use of applications over these five years. When the strengths and weaknesses of Internet surveys are discussed, they are often implicitly or explicitly compared with mail surveys. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to review the results of the comments and studies which have been published so far by professionals concerning the Internet surveys and to examine the state of the art in Internet surveys. Most of the problems addressed in the studies of Internet surveys are common to those that mail survey researchers faced in the almost eighty years history of their studies. Knowledge concerning the methodology of mail surveys which has accumulated over many decades should contribute to the future development of Internet surveys.
