カントリー音楽の多様性とアジア系アメリカ人 : シンガー・ソングライター、ゲイブ・リーから考える Asian Americans and Country Music : Gabe Lee and Changing Popular Music Culture in the US 永冨, 真梨 Nagatomi, Mari 永冨 Nagatomi 真梨 Mari open access ポピュラー音楽 カントリー音楽 アジア系アメリカ人 popular music country music Asian Americans 関西大学 Kansai University 白人で占められてきたカントリー音楽産業や隣接するジャンルのアメリカーナ、フォークなどで注目されるアジア系のアーティストが増えてきた。本論では、なぜこれらのアジア系のアーティストがカントリー並びにアメリカのルーツ音楽のジャンルで注目されるようになったのかを、台湾系のバックグラウンドを持つカントリーのシンガー・ソングライター、ゲイブ・リーに注目して考察する。本論では、カントリー音楽産業やアメリカのルーツ音楽業界とリーがどのように対峙したのかではなく、リーの作風と語りから抽出された特徴から、ポピュラー音楽をめぐる聴取やメディア環境、カントリー音楽の変遷、メディアにおけるアジア系アメリカ人の表象や表現の変化に注目してその理由を解明する。 More musicians with Asian ancestry are visible within country, Americana and folk music genre. This article explores why these Asian musicians have been spotlighted in those American roots music genres. To do so, this article looks at a country singer-songwriter Gabe Lee, who has parents immigrated from Taiwan. This article shows three characteristics that stand out in Lee’s songs and interviews.
