          <datacite:description descriptionType="Other">Chinese seal script has a very long history. After Qin Shihuang unified the script, the position of the seal script gradually declined because of the scripts' evolution and the demand for practicability. But in the Tang and Qing dynasties, there were two large seal script renaissances, whose influence restored the importance of seal script. The Qing dynasty was another peak in the seal script renaissance after the Tang dynasty; it not only influenced the Qing dynasty's Chinese seal script, but also the seal script of Edo Japan. As for the research that has been done on my topic, so far there is just one person who has written about it, Iwatsubo Mitsuo. He mainly arranged and discussed the problems of seal script publications in the Edo period, and did not talk about the influence of Chinese seal script on Edo Japan. In this thesis, first I introduced the development of Chinese seal script and the examples of famous calligraphers' theories, then I introduced Kido Kann, the obscure calligrapher and his theory. So that we can see the influence and popularization of Chinese seal script in Edo Japan.</datacite:description>
