植野武雄とその東洋学 : 附・著述目録 UENO Takeo and his Oriental Studies Including a Bibliography of his Works 20192982 吾妻, 重二 関西大学 Kansai University 満鮮史 Manchuria-Korea History 満鉄奉天図書館 HoutenvLibrary of Mantetsu 衛藤利夫 ETO Toshio 泊園書院 Hakuen Academy 石濱純太郎 ISHIHAMA Juntaro Takeo UENO (1897-1949) was an Orientalist who graduated from 'Hakuen-shoin', a famous private academy of classical Chinese studies in Osaka. Ueno achieved much, both as a scholar and a librarian. His work in the areas of local history of the Manchu region, Chinese bibliography and the history of cultural exchange between China, Korea and Japan based on the Shi-Chousen-Roku records were all at an extremely high level and exemplify how he spearheaded progress at the forefront of these fields in both China and Japan. Unfortunately, there has been a complete lack of prior research focused on Ueno. In this paper, I examine Ueno's life and achievements in detail as a pioneer of cultural interaction studies in East Asia.
