「民度」: 和製漢語としての可能性 On Min-do (民度) : A Case of the Descriptive Study on Japanese-Chinese Words. 陳, 贇 Min-do 民度 Meiji 明治 the condition of the people 国民・人民の度 lifestyle kokumin-teido 国民程度 The word "Min-do" first appeared in newspapers around 1888, but a clear etymology of the word has never appeared. This paper traces back the history of the word's formation and proposes the possibility that this word is a Japanese-created Chinese word influenced by Western thought.
