| 内容記述 | 本研究の目的は，Mangione(1995)が提唱している「郵便はがきによる調査票返送の確認法」をわが国でも実行可能か否か検証することにある。この技法は，あらかじめ調査票とともに「調査票返送済み郵便はがき」を回答者に送付しておき，記入が完了した無記名の調査票の返送時に，その旨を通知する記名の郵便はがきを別送してもらうことにより，回答者を特定することなく調査票返送の有無を確認する手続きを踏む。これにより調査票の未返送者だけに督促状を送付することが可能となる。Mangioneによれば，米国では，通常，郵便はがきの返送率よりも調査票の返送率の方が高いとのことであるが，本研究でもそれと同様の結果が得られた。すなわち，調査票本体が返送されずにこの郵便はがきだけが返送されるのではないかという事前の懸念は払拭され，この郵便はがきの送付対象者の調査票返送率が高い上に，調査票の返送率の方がこの郵便はがきの返送率よりも高く，この技法の有効性が裏づけられた。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study was to examine the applicability of "reminder postcard strategy" into the real Japanese situation, which was proposed by Mangione (1995). In this procedure both a questionnaire and a postage-paid return postcard are enclosed and sent to respondents in advance. A postcard has either an ID code and/or the respondent's name on it and it is returned separately from the questionnaire that does not have any cues on it. As Mangione pointed out we can maintain complete anonymity for the questionnaires which the respondents mailed back and know who has and has not already returned their questionnaires. Therefore this strategy is useful for us to send reminder postcards only to the respondents who have not yet sent their questionnaires back. We applied this procedure in a public opinion survey in Japan and found almost the same results as those which Mangione attained in the USA. Before trying this procedure, we worried about whether the respondents will send more postcards than questionnaires. However we collected more questionnaires from respondents who received postcards than respondents who did not and we also got more questionnaires than postcards. | |||||
