The opening of the Saidaiji Railway increased the convenience of traveling from the Saidaiji area to Okayama City, but the plan to lay the Kuban Line was not realized due to the decline of Kuban port. Regarding road improvement, a \"new road\" was built from Kannon Station (Saidaiji-cho Station) to Kakeno-cho. In Gofuku Street, to open a bus route, residents voluntarily realized the widening of the road by the clearing of eaves (nokigiri). As the road widened, billboard architecture appeared, and space which was conventionally under the eaves was used for traffic. The clearing of the eaves in Gofuku Street was epochal because it unified roads improvement within a certain district. The internal structure of the Saidaiji area added an emerging commercial district around Saidaiji-cho Station to the traditional commercial district based on Monzen-machi of Kannonin.
