| 内容記述 | It is well known that many Chinese have moved overseas since the 19th century. The direction of the Chinese immigrant tide is remarkable in two directions, the east and southeast directions, and the factor is the rise of the steamer shipping industry. I headed east for North America across the Pacific Ocean. In particular, the United States under construction of a new nation and Canada in the British territory became new places. On the other hand, the immigration trend toward the other Southeast is heading for Southeast Asia. It was steamship shipping that has emerged since the mid-19th century that contributed to the rapid increase in the immigration trend. A large amount of human movement was made possible more quickly than the sailing of a sailboat. Therefore, this paper will focus on the shipping situation connecting South China Coast and Southeast Asia by a Chinese steamer company that founded the steamer shipping business in Singapore, which promoted the migration of Chinese to the southeast. | |||||
