| 内容記述 | This work introduces the Kyoto Appeal, a statement jointly issued by three major Japanese academic associations in the field of applied linguistics and English teaching in September 2013. The Kyoto Appeal addresses concerns and suggestions related to the use of four-skills proficiency tests for university entrance examinations in Japan. The present paper discusses issues and implications related to the implementation of Kyoto Appeal focusing on three perspectives: (a) washback, (b) construct representation, and (c) practicality. Based on theoretically grounded and expert views, thorough consideration must be exercised in using four-skills proficiency tests for university entrance examinations. | |||||
