Specific examples of teaching approaches will be explained, in the hope that they will suggest possibilities to others. Student report excerpts will give some idea of perceptions and varied levels of success in explaining these perceptions. Specifically, in the first semester of the 2007-2008 school year, my students studied the American film Good Will Hunting (1997) in two sections of English III R classes, reading classes for second year students.
